How do I improve the oral language of my New Entrant students?

This is a teacher inquiry into improving the oral language skills of a class of New Entrant students in Invercargill.
I am aiming to improve my student's achievement in reading, writing and oral language to meet school targets for 5.06 years.

Why is this is important?

• my students are not achieving the literacy levels required to meet the national standards and school expectations.

• Many of the children lack proficient oral language skills for their age.

• Improving outcomes in reading, writing and oral language will enable the children to experience success in all areas of learning.

This Blog will be an ongoing journey- a way of documenting how I aim to improve these children's skills.
